Watercolor was the first medium I attempted, many years ago. It continues to fascinate and amaze me each time I use it.

What’s not to love about it? It is transparent, it is fluid, and it is endlessly surprising.

The great adventure with watercolor really is apparent when different painting surfaces are utilized.

I often experiment with different surfaces, to see what happens when… I use cold-pressed or hot-pressed papers, Bristol plate, Yupo, illustration board, canvas, or toned multi-media papers.

While some of my work is strictly watercolor, I often use watercolor washes over collaged areas or acrylic paint to modify all or part of a painting.
