Pastels

Within the last few years, I have enjoyed the versatility of pastel. Unlike watercolor, where timing and water dictate the intensity, the edges, and the blending of colors, pastel takes its time.
A painting can be on my easel for whatever time I need, and I can work five minutes, or three hours or any time in between. (or months!)
Colors can be lifted out, smudged, modified with textural tools, or other pastels. I have also combined pastels with collage materials which is tricky, but none the less interesting.
In some of my mixed media work, I have enhanced areas with applications of pastels
